El Paso Redesignation Request and Maintenance Plan SIP Revision for the One-Hour Ozone NAAQS

On April 24, 2019, the commission will consider adoption of the El Paso Redesignation Request and Maintenance Plan SIP Revision for the One-Hour Ozone NAAQS (Non-Rule Project No. 2018-029-SIP-NR). The SIP revision includes a request that the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) redesignate the El Paso area (El Paso County) to attainment for the one-hour ozone NAAQS and provides a maintenance plan that will ensure the area remains in attainment of the NAAQS through 2032. The SIP revision includes a request that the EPA also consider this plan as a second 10-year maintenance plan for the one-hour ozone NAAQS.

HGB Redesignation Request and Maintenance Plan SIP Revision for the One-Hour and 1997 Eight-Hour Ozone NAAQS

On December 12, 2018, the commission will consider adoption of the Houston-Galveston-Brazoria (HGB) Redesignation Request and Maintenance Plan SIP Revision for the One-Hour and 1997 Eight-Hour Ozone NAAQS (Non-Rule Project No. 2018-026-SIP-NR). The SIP revision would include a request that the United States Environmental Protection Agency redesignate the HGB area to attainment for the one-hour and 1997 eight-hour ozone NAAQS and provide a maintenance plan that will ensure the area remains in attainment of the NAAQS through 2032.

Administrator Pruitt Signs Memo to Reform NAAQS Review Process

“U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt signed a memorandum outlining a “Back-to-Basics” process for reviewing National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) under the Clean Air Act. This memo ensures that EPA and its independent science advisors follow a transparent, timely, and efficient process in reviewing and revising public health- and welfare-based NAAQS.”
