New Web-based Trainings! Air Quality Training Series

The National Highway Institute (NHI) announces that the following new trainings are available.

142068 Air Quality Planning: Clean Air Act Overview

This course provides participants with an overview of air quality planning, including requirements, processes, and interactions with and implications for transportation planning and project development.

142069 Air Quality Planning: SIP and TCM Requirements and Policies

This course covers the different types of State Implementation Plans (SIP) and key Clean Air Act (CAA) SIP requirements general to all SIPs, and those specific to ozone, carbon monoxide (CO), and particle pollution or partiulate matter (PM) SIPs. This course also discusses how the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) processes SIPs; explores the key features of EPA SIP policies and how they differ from CAA requirements; and explains Reasonably Available Control Measures (RACM) and how they apply to Transporation Control Measures (TCM).

142070 Air Quality Planning: SIP Development Process

This course provides an overview of the SIP development process, focusing on agency roles, with an explanation of the problem definition and solution parts of the process. This course also covers motor vehicle emission budgets that are included in SIPs and used in conformity determinations, and describes EPAs procedures in approving and disapproving SIPs.

142071 Air Quality Planning: Transportation Conformity

This course defines transportation conformity and is designed for individuals that are new to transportation conformity, with little to no experience with the Transportation Conformity Rule. Specifically, the course will answer questions related to the “what” of transportation conformity: What is it? What activities are covered by conformity? And what are the major requirements?

The attached bluelines contain additional details, or you can select the links above to view the course information on the NHI Web site. Please forward this e-mail to those you think would benefit from these new trainings.
