The EPA has released the draft Policy Assessment (PA) regarding their review of the Ozone national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS). This draft document was prepared as part of the current review of the NAAQS for photochemical oxidants including ozone. The PA, when final, serves to “bridge the gap” between the currently available scientific and technical information and the judgments required of the Administrator in determining whether to retain or revise the existing O3 NAAQS. The primary and secondary O3 NAAQS are set to protect the public health and the public welfare from O3 and other photochemical oxidants in ambient air.
Availability of the draft PA was announced in the November 1, 2019 Federal Register (FR): https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2019-11-01/pdf/2019-23888.pdf. The FR includes instructions on how to submit your comments regarding the draft PA. Comments regarding the draft PA should be received on or before December 16, 2019.
